The Tri-project is a coordinated effort between the South Coast Science Project, Math Project, and the South Coast Writing Project. This is an example of work done by teachers as they learned the academic concepts associated with science topics after reading was done about the different forms of energy. Teachers heard a presentation about the forms of energy, read specific information about the forms, split into expert groups, wrote about their assigned form using the “Important Book” format, viewed sample videos of Rube Goldberg Machines, and built their own machines. Ideally, using the engineering practices, teachers would have had time to re-design their machines and re-video the results.
